Sales, disruptive innovation, angel investing and SalesOMMO
Mihai Guran together with Florin Rosoaga at “Antreprenori care inspira” podcast.
An interesting discussion about underdog startups, how they can maximize their chances of winning with a disruptive innovation strategy, as also about how angel investment decisions are made.
The conversation went from Mihai’s experience in sales, sales management and entrepreneurship to the decision to invest in tech startups, and then found and invest into SalesOMMO.
A few of the key points:
The best founders are still defined by drive, resilience and internal motivation. Technology changes, markets change, capital cycles change, but the ability to keep building against the odds remains essential.
Angel investors continue to matter most in the uncertain, early space: before the opportunity is obvious, before the company is de-risked, before larger capital becomes comfortable.
AI may make founders and investors faster, but it does not replace human judgment. Experience still matters in knowing what to question, what to verify and when not to take things at face value.
Also, Florin and Mihai discussed about how adopting a disruptive innovation strategy can reduce the chance for luck for startups, but it is not easy to apply. Such an approach requires startups to gain traction in less-attractive customer segments, that are not appealing to larger incumbent competitors, with less attractive products, but certainly affordable to low-end customers with basic needs.
Venture-relevant opportunities are still tied to problems that can scale beyond local contexts. Angel investing is not getting easier, but in an ecosystem shaped by cautious capital, fast technology and high uncertainty, the role of informed, experienced early investors may be more relevant than ever.
